Touring Doulos - 13th September

Just returned from the ship... Had a great time with Leine who brought us on a tour on the Doulos ship. We met Leine, Magda's mum, on the appreciation dinner as Magda introduced us to her parents. She is full of love and care, as she showed us around the ship, bringing us to every corner...

We saw the flatlets where the families live (sorry, forgot the camera... again!). They have a very small cabin which has a few rooms in them and families are able to make a flatlet out of them.

As usual, the singles get to share cabins with either 1 other person or 7 others... The cabins are very small and each person only gets to have a bed each and that's their space for their time on the ship.

We also had the adventure of entering the engine room, which was boiling hot!! Leine also briefed us on the fire procedures, in case of fire on the ship. Wow, they are well trained and know every detail as they have a fire drill every week to practice on...

We ended the tour with a nice meal at the dining room. We were impressed to see tables set aside for families and singles. The families get to sit on the same table all the time. Guess it's for the children's stability... Today, on the menu, we had chicken breast served with rice and salad. For dessert, we had walnut brownie and starfruit plus longan. mmmmm...

Today was a special day at the Doulos since they are welcoming 65 new intakes. Anyone can join the ship for 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years... It definitely kept us thinking of our possibility of cruising on a mission ship, someday...

After the tour, we finally went to the book fair. So much to see and the prices were incredibly cheap. It's said that their books are sold the cheapest here in KK compared to all the other ports.

And as soon as we arrived home, Derek is back to his new toy... He got a laptop last night and is completely glued to it, for now.
