A night on the Doulos - 8th September

So, we were invited to the appreciation dinner of the ship, Doulos, on Wednesday evening. We had the opportunity to meet the team again, those who were here for the past 2 months or so, preparing for the ship's arrival, doing promotions and admin work...

We met Magda, a South African, whose parents are also working on the ship. We spent the evening with them, dining on the same table, chatting about mission life and life away from home... with some tears in between, especially Magda's mum, as she hears a performance by another South African, singing in her mother tongue.

The evening was great, filled with a room of people who have supported the Doulos mission in its visit here in KK.

Of course our memories of the mission came back fast with the way food was served... We had roast beef and roast chicken. It was yummy! They kept telling us that they don't eat like that everyday... We laughed along saying that we do the same in the mission. Agapes are grand and elaborate in ICPE, but we don't do that everyday...

It was a nice evening, exchanging experiences of fun, excitement and challenges working as a volunteer among many other nationalities. We were invited to come for a personal tour 'round the ship. Looking forward to that...
